KUALA LUMPUR: The National Institute of Translation (ITNM) will publish 130 titles as additional reading materials for science and mathematics next year.
Its chief executive officer, Mohd Khair Ngadiron, said the publication of the Bahasa Malaysia books was aimed at promoting the use of the national language in science and technology, as well as to make the subjects more attractive for students. He said the institute was currently identifying the titles of Science and Mathematic books from the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States.
"We have to admit that not everybody understands English, so we have to assist the students, especially in the rural areas, to understand the two subjects by providing reading materials in Bahasa Malaysia," he said after opening a seinar on Malaysians Book Lovers 2010 here Tuesday.
Mohd Khair said the institute was also identifying 50 books to be translated to Bahasa Malaysia to help nurture creative among school students. - Bernama
